Microsoft can Disable Pirated Games on Windows 10

If you’re a Gaming enthusiast and have recently upgraded your system to Windows 10, this news might give you some headaches. Microsoft recently updated it’s MSA (Microsoft Services Agreement), Section 7b,  which states that it can check the software version Installed on your system and can disable it if found pirated or unauthorized.

We may automatically check your version of the software and download software updates or configuration changes, including those that prevent you from accessing the Services, playing counterfeit games, or using unauthorized hardware peripheral devices. You may also be required to update the software to continue using the Services. – Section 7b, Microsoft Services Agreement

These terms apply to any Microsoft Product or Game Installed on your Windows 10 PC or Windows 10 Mobile. However, you will also notice that they have mentioned about “unauthorized hardware devices”, that means if you’ve got some modified Microsoft controllers , they will disable that too.

Still, as far now, the third-party applications and games will not be affected by Microsoft as they will not be under their control. However, after Microsoft has taken drastic steps to control piracy of software and games, there’s a possibility that other software and gaming companies might do the same with the help of Microsoft.
